PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Dark oak has a permanence that lighter timber tones don’t. It reads as considered, confident, and warm — and the Mini Slat Dark Oak captures that weight in a PVC panel that’s far easier to work with than real timber.

The mini slat format (8mm x 150mm) creates a finely detailed wall texture. The dark oak grain finish runs across the panel surface with the natural variation you’d expect from real timber — different panels have slightly different tonal depth, just like real boards would. When installed, the overall effect is a rich, dark, textured wall with fine horizontal shadow lines.

At 2900mm long, the panels keep joints minimal on standard wall heights. The 8mm profile sits close to the wall and looks intentional rather than bulky.

Dark oak works particularly well in home theatres, master bedrooms, studies, dining rooms, and any space where you want a wall with real presence. It’s a strong choice for feature walls behind a bed or sofa, and it pairs well with warm lighting and natural materials.

PVC construction means moisture resistance, easy maintenance, and no risk of the swelling and splitting that timber can experience in humid environments.

How does dark oak compare to walnut or charred wood finishes?
All three are dark finishes, but they read differently. Walnut has a warm, mid-brown tone with visible grain variation — it's the most 'classic timber' of the three. Dark oak is deeper and cooler-toned, with a more formal appearance. Charred wood is the darkest, with a near-black surface and a slightly more dramatic, industrial character. If you're unsure, ordering samples of each side by side in your actual room light is the best way to make the call.
Can dark oak panels make a small room feel oppressive?
Used on all four walls in a small, low-ceiling room — possibly. But used on a single feature wall, dark timber tones actually add depth and make a room feel more intentional and interesting. The key is using the panel as an accent rather than a room-wrap. Pair it with lighter tones on adjacent walls and good lighting to prevent the room feeling heavy.
Is the dark oak grain consistent across all panels?
There's natural variation between panels in the print — slight differences in tone and grain pattern, similar to how real timber varies between boards. This variation is part of what makes timber-effect finishes look realistic rather than obviously printed. Panels from the same production batch will be most consistent. If doing a large feature wall, it's worth ordering all panels at once to minimise any batch variation.
