PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

These 10G x 50mm decking screws are SS304 stainless steel and come in boxes of 1000 per box. They’re sized to fix normal-thickness decking boards into joists, and the wide countersunk head sits flush, keeping the surface clean with no raised heads to catch a bare foot.

Sold in a 1000-piece box, so a bigger deck doesn’t mean stopping to buy more halfway through.

  • SS304 stainless steel, so it resists rust and handles normal outdoor weather.
  • 10 gauge (roughly 4.8mm) and 50mm long.
  • Wide countersunk head that holds the board down and sits flush.
  • T25 drive, with nibs under the head that stop the screw from slipping while you drive it.
  • Type 17 point, which starts cleanly into the timber.
  • Works in both softwood and hardwood.
  • Through a 19mm to 22mm board, you get about 28mm to 31mm into the joist. Thicker boards leave less, so for boards thicker than 22mm or dense hardwood, check whether a longer screw such as 65mm is a better fit.

Application and Suitable Uses

  • Softwood and hardwood decking – fixing boards down to joists
  • Rails and fencing – outdoor timber where you want a rust-resistant screw
  • Screening – privacy and feature screens
  • General woodwork – outdoor timber jobs around the yard
  • DIY projects – benches, planters and similar builds

Why Choose Decking Screws?

It all comes down to getting the fixing right for the timber. Stainless steel resists rust staining much better than plain steel. The wide head holds boards firmly and finishes flush, and 50mm is a good length for standard 19mm to 22mm boards with enough left over to grip the joist. A 1000-piece box covers a lot of deck.

Why should I use decking screws instead of standard timber screws?
They're built for outdoor timber. The thread, head and finish are all chosen for decking, so you get a screw that holds, sits flush and doesn't rust the way an ordinary timber screw will.
What type of drill bit should be used with decking screws?
A T25. These have a T25 drive, so use a T25 bit that fits snugly. A loose or wrong-sized bit is usually what chews up screw heads.
Are 50mm decking screws suitable for hardwood decking?
Yes, but on dense hardwood always pre-drill and countersink, because stainless screws can snap or strip if driven straight in.** Also check board thickness, because the screw has to get through the board and still grip the joist.
Do decking screws need to be stainless steel for outdoor use?
For outdoor decks, stainless is the usual choice. These are SS304, which handles normal outdoor conditions well. If the deck is close to the bay or exposed to salt spray, a higher grade like 316 is the safer choice, so ask our team first.
Can decking screws be used for outdoor furniture projects?
Often, yes. It depends on the timber, how much load the piece will carry and how exposed it is. Check the screw length against the thickness of the pieces you're joining.
