PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Stairs are where most composite deck installations lose their finish. The main surface looks sharp — then you reach the step edge: raw board ends, a sharp corner, hollow cores visible from below. The Terra Deck Beige Bullnose fixes that.

The rounded leading edge covers the front of each step — hiding hollow board ends, eliminating the sharp corner, and giving bare feet a smooth, comfortable surface to land on. It’s what takes a deck staircase from functional to finished.

The Beige colourway is warm and pale, with a subtle grain texture that suits coastal, Hamptons, and contemporary builds. It carries consistently from the deck surface down every step — clean, cohesive, and fade-resistant under UV thanks to the Gen 5 polymer cap.

The embossed wood-grain surface provides real grip underfoot — important on stair treads exposed to morning dew, pool splash, or rain. Better traction than a smooth profile, without compromising the finish.

Because it shares the same Gen 5 co-extrusion process as the Beige decking boards, the colour match between bullnose and deck surface is exact. The whole staircase reads as one system, not a collection of close-enough parts.

No painting, sealing, or maintenance required.

Q: What exactly does a bullnose board do that a standard decking board can't?
A: A standard decking board has a flat, squared profile on all edges. When used at a stair tread leading edge, that square corner concentrates foot impact, wears faster, and creates a sharp edge that's uncomfortable and potentially hazardous underfoot. The bullnose has a purpose-engineered rounded front edge that distributes foot pressure naturally, resists edge impact, and gives each step a professional, finished appearance that standard boards simply can't replicate.
Q: Is the bullnose profile slip-resistant when wet?
A: The embossed wood-grain surface texture on the bullnose provides considerably better grip than a smooth surface when wet — important for stair treads that may see morning dew, rain, or wet feet from a pool surround. For decks in particularly wet environments or with elderly users, ensure the subframe drains correctly and the stair surface isn't pooling water.
Q: Can bullnose boards be used on raised deck edges that aren't stairs?
A: Yes — the bullnose profile also works well on raised deck edges, balcony edges, and any elevated board end where a rounded rather than sharp edge is preferred. It creates a finished, deliberate look at the deck perimeter and is a clean alternative to flat fascia in certain design situations.
